Tattoo FAQ & Aftercare

What types of tattoos does Daniel Troyer specialize in?

1

Daniel Troyer specializes in fine line black and gray tattoos, with additional experience in bold illustrative tattoo work. His designs are inspired by nature, botanical elements, American traditional art, and Japanese tattoo motifs. Whether you're looking for a delicate fine line tattoo or a larger custom illustrative piece, Daniel works closely with clients to create meaningful, custom tattoos.

Can I bring my own ideas?

2

Absolutely. Daniel encourages clients to bring their own tattoo ideas, inspiration photos, concepts, or personal stories. Whether you have a fully developed design or just a general idea, he will collaborate with you to refine the concept and create a custom tattoo that reflects your vision and story.

What should I prepare for my first session?

3

Before your tattoo appointment, it’s important to:

  • Get a full night of sleep

  • Stay hydrated

  • Eat a good meal beforehand

  • Bring water, snacks, or candy for longer sessions

For tattoo sessions longer than four hours, plan to eat a more substantial meal during a break. On the day of your appointment, Daniel will show you the final tattoo design for approval before discussing placement and sizing. The stencil can be adjusted until it feels perfect. Many first-time clients feel nervous beforehand, but most find the process easier than expected once the tattoo begins. Daniel will guide you through every step and answer any questions during the session.

How do I take care of my tattoo afterward?

Proper tattoo aftercare is essential for healing and maintaining the quality of your tattoo.

For the first 3 days:

  • Wash your tattoo 2–3 times daily using antibacterial soap

  • Gently clean the area with your fingertips

  • Pat dry with a clean towel

  • Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor (avoid thick or glossy application)

After 3 days:

  • Switch from Aquaphor to a regular fragrance-free body lotion

  • Apply lotion multiple times daily to prevent dryness

During healing, it’s normal to experience:

  • Dryness

  • Tightness

  • Mild redness or swelling

  • Peeling or flaking similar to a sunburn

Avoid:

  • Lakes, pools, hot tubs, and prolonged sun exposure

  • Letting your tattoo touch gym equipment or workout mats directly

Showers and gentle washing are encouraged during healing. If you have any questions or concerns about tattoo healing or aftercare, contact Daniel Troyer directly.
